Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s….Dad
As my three year old son is running round the living room in his batman pants and his Captain America cape (yes seriously) it got me thinking…what makes a super hero?
I initially think of the muscular man in some form of Lycra outfit and a pair of black rimmed glasses…they do like their Lycra don’t they!
Although you don’t often imagine your favourite superhero shout…”Turn some of those blumin lights out it’s like Blackpool illuminations in here!” or when you catch them having a nap and ask if they are sleeping and they reply “No I’m not sleeping I’m just checking my eyelids for holes!” …But this is when they are in disguise and underneath those dodgy socks and sandals combo and the ever so slightly cringy dad dancing moves you have your very own superhero who will just about do anything to protect you and care for you.
Dad you are my very own superhero and thank you for all that you do for us. My dad is my go-to person and is always there if I need anything doing. Cheers for checking my tyre pressure, being my personal taxi driver, my landscape gardener and for all those trips to the dump to name just a very few. You may not fly through the sky or drive a bat-mobile (instead a clapped out Audi that you need a tetanus jab before you get in) but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am also eternally grateful that you are always in disguise- I would not want to see you in any form of Lycra!
Love you Dad, from your favourite child… ha (come on we both know it).
This Father’s Day 18th June why not let them know just how fab they are without giving them an awkward hug!
